The wonders of technology!!!

Hello reader!

Due to whe wonders of technology i an writing this blog on my mobile phone on the bus as I travel into Adelaide. How cool is that. Whats not cool is the guy I am sitting next to who insists on opening his legs so wide to take up most of the seat leaving one of my butt cheeks teetaring over the edge. What is even worse is he is listening to music, through the speakers on his phone and he happens to be playing nickelback.

This surely is worse then hell!!!

Disney FAQ

Now I've mucked around with that I can do with this blog thing, I should really post something relating to the reason I set it up in the first place, my impending trip to Walt Disney World. I've had a few people quiz me about the trip, why I am going, how I got the job etc, so I am writing this to clear up any confusions. Because of my overwhelming creativity, I'm going to do this in the form of a FAQ, how cool am I! Here goes...

Where are you going?
I am going to America, more specifically Florida, more specifically Orlando in Florida. It is here I will be going to work at Walt Disney World (not to be confused with Disneyland which is in California, Disney World is the bigger one, Disneyland could fit into Disney World's car park.)

When are you going?
I start over there on November 28th 2006 and finish up February 16th 2007 .

Where are you going to stay while you are over there?
Disney have a number of apartment complexes in which the 'cast members' (a term for people employed by Disney) partaking of the College program and/or International program get to stay at. Although it isn't free, it only costs Approx. US$70 a week, which isn't bad as the biggest expense overseas is the accommodation.

How are you getting over there?

A company by the name of DK Australia is helping us with the paperwork, organising flights, visas etc. We still have to pay for the flights and everything over there, but they are trying to organise discounted flights.

Tell us a bit about Disney World?
Well Disney World is home to 4 theme parks, 2 water parks, a nigh time area, 21 resorts, 6 golf courses and much much more. All in all a pretty cool place.

Where will you be working while in Disney World?

I don't know exactly where I will be working, we were given a list at the interview where we put down options of what jobs are available. What I have ended up getting is Attractions/Operations. This job (from what they've told me) is getting put on a ride, looking after/cleaning it, taking tickets, doing a memorised spiel, it really depends on where they put you and what attraction your on. I guess I can give you a more detailed description of what I am doing when I get over there.

How did you get a job working at Disney World!?
I basically answered and email that was sent out to all the students at Unisa, I had some friends who did the program last yeah and highly recommended it so I thought I'd check it out. I attended an information/interview session with about 30 other people where they talked to us about Disney World and the International Program itself, then got interviewed where it was basically just getting to know who we are. Two weeks later I got a call saying I got the job.

What are some of the advantages you get from working at Disney World?
Well you get free entry into all the theme parks there! That's the big one, as well as discounts galore whilst in the park itself.

What ride are you most looking forward to going on?
PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN OF COURSE!!!

Will you miss us?
...No

Well that's all I can really think of at the moment, if I think of more I'll add them, especially if you bug me with more questions. Right now methinks it's time for bed.
Goodnight Internet!

Top 5 Songs of the Week

Here's the top 5 songs I am listening to this week:

1. We Are What You Say - Sufjan Stevens
Yes I'm starting off with Sufjan again. This song comes from one of his earlier albums, 'A Sun Came' and I love it. It blends all these instruments from different places all over the world and it sounds awesome.

2. Such Great Height - The Postal Service
First heard this song on the 'Garden State' trailer and fell in love with it. What followed was about a month of scouring the internet to find the song and who it was done by. I did and it has been my all time favourite song ever since.

3. Snakes on a Plane (Bring It) - Cobra Starship
I'm putting this song on here as it is one that I have been listening to a lot. It is such a cheesy cheesy song but thats what makes it so completely awesome, just like the movie it was written for.

4. How to Save a Life - The Fray
This is another song I have been listening to constantly over the past few weeks. It was used in an episode of 'Scrubs' that aired on Channel 7 which has so far become my favourite episode of Season 5. It was one of those really moving episodes that Scrubs do every seasons and I think this song contributed a lot to that.

5. Down Under (Acoustic) - Colin Hay
I played this song on the radio the other night as a tribute to Steve Irwin who passed away this week, so I thought it would be fitting to put in my top 5. Great Australian song and done even better with Colin's solo acoustic style. (I'm linking it to the Men at Work version, but see if you can find the Colin Hay one)

Student Radio

Hello All

I haven't posted for a bit at the moment as time has been escaping me. That and I have been having a bit of trouble with the Blog as I am trying to set it up so I can email my posts in from my phone and can add new posts in my boring bus trips to uni everyday. At the moment I am trying to see more of what I can do with this blog and add some audio. Fingers crossed this works. What I am putting on here will be shows from a radio program I do on Unisa Student Radio. It's called movie talk where funly enough we talk about movies! The one I will be putting up is the first from our longer show, and I may put up some of our previous shorter ones, but I'm not sure yet as I'm just beginning in the world of radio and some of them aren't all that exciting, but anyway I enjoy doing it. So if all goes well what you will see below is a player with my radio show.

Toodles!
